We're on our last week of summer break, and I thought it would be fun to review our activities so far.
I asked the kids to rate each summer outing on a scale of 1 to 10. Here are their average scores (in order from lowest to highest):
Blueberry Picking/Baking with Blueberries (and a few blackberries)
Score: 3.75
Not a kid favorite, but thanks to Grandma we have lots of blueberries in our freezer to last all winter :)
White Rock Beach
Score: 7.3
Not everyone loves the beach as much as I do, but I grew up there and never want to miss a chance to visit each summer.
Granville Island
Score: 7.7
We've been here many times--the kids have their favorite foods and we all enjoy looking in the shops (or at least I thought we did!).
Science World/Aquabus
Score: 8
We saw the new Lego exhibit at Science World then travelled by Aquabus to Granville Island.
Growing our Garden
Score: 8.3
Alaina added snapdragons to our garden this year, and we've had big, beautiful marigolds (courtesy of my sister Sheri). We also have lots of tomatoes!
Fort Langley Brigade Days
Score: 8.3
It was really hot and dry on the day we went, but we learned some new games and also some facts about the early settlers in B.C.
Hiking at Stave Lake
Score: 8.5
We were actually planning to hike at Golden Ears on B.C. Day, but it was full--so we tried another nearby hike, which was very enjoyable.
Burnaby Village Museum
Score: 9
So fun to see what life was like in the early 1900s. We rode the carousel this time and went to the K-pop store afterwards :)
Biking the Sea Wall at Stanley Park
Score: 9.25
We've been wanting to do this for years and finally made it happen. Janae and Eric rode a tandem!
Fly Over Canada
Score: 10
This one was just Alaina and me. Everyone else was busy, and I told Alaina we were going on a surprise adventure. Alaina loves airplanes, and I've always wanted to travel across Canada, so it was perfect for the two of us!
Camping (Jason and Eric)
Score: 10
This was just Jason and Eric. They hiked, biked, swam, roasted marshmallows, slept in a tent--Eric's dream come true for two days.
