This Girl....

Janae turned 12 at the beginning of March. Unfortunately, her dad passed a kidney stone that same day after suffering with it for almost a week.... and that kind of overshadowed her special day. (Here she is, though, blowing out candles on a DQ cake in her cat onsie!)

The previous weekend, her "surprise" party with her two best friends from elementary school had been cancelled because Janae had been so sick with an ear infection.

But, she's had plenty to celebrate since then!

We were able to get her together with her old friends a few days after her birthday. They painted ceramics and then went out for dinner.

A few days after that, Janae competed in her school's speech finals . . . and won! She'll be representing her school at the end of April in the district competition.

And then last weekend, she competed in her music school's annual festival, playing "Waltz" and "Dream," both at the Grade 7 level. She played so beautifully I had to blink back tears.

This girl always amazes me! I'm so grateful she's my daughter--not just because of all she's accomplished but because of how much she adds to our lives every day.

so glad to be able to see your blog again. It has been blocked for a long time. Now I just have to remember the name to type in. I liked seeing all the pictures from Montreal, Christmas, etc.

love, mom
