May Fluffy Rest in Peace

Ben's hamster Fluffy passed away last night--we were all very sad when we saw him this morning.

We've known for a few weeks that Fluffy wouldn't live much longer.  His little paws shook when he walked, his eyes were almost permanently closed, he wasn't eating much, and he couldn't get onto his wheel.

This morning Ben made a little paper casket.

He decorated it with a drawing of an Egyptian hamster.

Janae and Alaina also wrote some tributes,

then we talked about what we loved best about the furry guy.

Ben found a nice spot in the backyard for a grave, and they buried Fluffy under the trees--amongst the flowers, where dearly departed hamsters belong, I guess.

Everybody had the chance to sprinkle some dirt, and all of the kids cried a little.

Then it was time for flowers and final goodbyes.

It was their first experience with losing a pet, and I could really see how much they loved him.

We will miss that fluffy little Fluffy!
