Janae's Got Talent!

When our kids' elementary school announced its annual talent show auditions we knew we were in for some drama--not the least of it being that every girl in Grade One, including Janae, wanted to sing solos of "Let it Go" from Frozen.

In fact, before the first meeting of the would-be performers, Janae came out of school in tears, explaining that someone else had already claimed the song.

But luckily for all of us the girls worked something out.  Janae and her friend opted for the slightly less overdone "For the First Time in Forever," where Janae would still get to sing Elsa's part.

Since Elsa dresses are scarce these days, we called Grandma--who made Janae a beautiful ice queen costume in less than a week, using a pattern, material, and snowflake decorations that she already had on hand.  Amazing!

The girls practiced at school and had some rehearsals in the gym.  Today was the day, and Alaina, Eric, and I were able to be there.

The girls sang beautifully and were very dramatic.

All of the participants got a special medal!

And then I was just one of the crowd competing for Janae's attention....

I felt like paparazzi trying to get a picture on our way to the car :)

I'm glad it all turned out so well!  I'm guessing there will be a few more performances in her future....

The dress turned out so perfect...and I can't believe how long her hair is--she didn't even need a wig!
