Janae graduated from high school last night!
Like every Grade 12 student, Janae had been anticipating this day for a while--counting down the time until she could move on from the long days of homework and sitting in class.
Over the past few months we have attended the last school play, the last choir concert, the last Exhibition of Learning, and the last dance show with Janae singing on the school stage (here is a link to the video: "For Good," Dance Show 2025).
Last night, we got to see Janae and her friends cross the stage and receive their scholarships and diplomas (well, diploma covers at least).

It was also Eric's elementary school graduation last night, but unfortunately we had to miss it to be at Janae's. Eric had such a great attitude and supported his sister 100 percent. We will be celebrating him at his school's final assembly in a couple of weeks.
During the convocation, the school choir (including Alaina!) sang "Thank You for the Music" (You can watch the video here: "Thank You for the Music"), and Janae and her friend Grace gave a speech thanking the parents for all their help (Convocation Speech). The girls did a beautiful job on both.
Janae received a $1250 Dogwood Award/Scholarship for her work on the costumes for "Tick, Tick Boom" and also a $1000 scholarship from the Chamber of Commerce.
The students work on the Dogwood projects but don't know if they will receive the award until graduation--so Janae was very happy to have all her efforts rewarded.
"Tick, Tick Boom" was also mentioned several times throughout the evening, emphasizing how memorable it was and the major accomplishment it was for Janae and her friends.
After the ceremony, we celebrated by going out for ice cream, Janae showing off her Dogwood medal :)
It was wonderful to see Janae so happy and successful, celebrating this important milestone and finishing so strong. We could not be more proud of her!
(She still has a final project for English and final exams in Anatomy and Chemistry this week, so it's not quite over ... but the end is in sight.)
