A Few Big Days

We've had a few big events over the past 10 days or so....

Eric and I drove to Kamloops to pick up Alaina from FSY (church youth conference). This was our first long trip in our new car, and everything went well.

Two days later, Eric passed off Level 4 on his swimming lessons--it was his 8th time at that level, so he was pretty happy!

That afternoon, Janae took her road test for her driver's license ... and passed on her first try! Now she can drive alone, with one friend, or with as many family members as she likes.

That evening she drove away with all three siblings, and no parents--and since then she has helped me in a tricky parallel parking situation as well! (In two years she can take another test for her full license.)

One week later, Janae played the violin during her cousin Kya's wedding ceremony--something she had been preparing for since November. She played prelude music, "La Vie en Rose" for the bridesmaids/groomsmen, and "Can't Help Falling in Love" while Kya walked down the aisle with her dad.

It was HOT and sunny, but the wedding was so beautiful, and we were happy to be part of such a special day.

We stayed in a suite close to my sister Anita's house, where the kids enjoyed ping pong, fuse ball, and also a piano.

While there, we also checked off one more thing from our summer list: Cold Stone ice cream :)

After the wedding, we hurried home so Ben could write a final exam yesterday. He's been taking a pretty challenging computer science course all summer, and now he's all done! (After worrying that he would fail/had failed, he eventually learned that he’d got a solid B on the final exam and also in the course!)

I think the rest of our summer will be a little more laid back :)
